Lizzie, do you think Iraq's economy can be strong enough to allow political stability without oil exports? In a few years, Iraq will likely be the fastest growing economy in the region (maybe in the world?) simply because they have huge resources and an educated, sophisticated population. For the last 20+ years both the resources and the skills of the people have been diverted to making war on neighbors, oppressing the population, building weapons, building palaces, and enriching Saddam and his henchmen. That is ending and soon Iraq's economy will awaken, free to sell oil to the world to gain, instead of weapons for Saddam, goods and services they need to make the country much greater than Saddam ever could. For you to suggest that the war is "about oil" because soon the Iraqi people will be able to benefit from that massive source of the country's wealth is simply ridiculous.
