For the last 20+ years both the resources and the skills of the people have been diverted to making war on neighbors, oppressing the population, building weapons, building palaces, and enriching Saddam and his henchmen. That is ending and soon Iraq's economy will awaken,

They had this iraqi professor call in to ABC news thurs night. He said essentially the opposite, he said that in the past 30 years has been the only time iraq has been able to "move forward as a country". He said that the British had control of iraq prior to Saddam Hussein and they wanted to steal the oil, and now the Americans want the same thing. It was interesting because Peter Jennings clearly didn't expect this kind of commentary (he expected the guy to be pro-american) and they cut the call off prematurely. Ordinarily you would just dismiss something this, except, it seems to me the iraqis are putting up more of a fight than we were led to believe they would... what does that say? As of this moment I don't think we have encountered any republican guards. The regular iraqi soldiers stopped a tank brigade for awhile and some other incidents happened with the regular army. I know about the division in the north that turned themselves over but they are the chi-ites (sp?) and that is a separate conflict.

If you watch any news other than Fox, it is imminently clear that the iraqi people do NOT feel that they are being liberated, to the contrary.
