I agree with both opinions. This will either end up being the biggest disaster in American history or it's greatest success. Short term, I think we all know it will bring more terrorism and anti-Americanism. Long term it could mean a shining example of Democracy right smack in the middle of a hotbed of extremist Arabs. You see, it was always Israel that was supposed to be the shining example of Democracy. Unfortunately, Arabs hate Israelis...end of story. However, if Iraq can be transformed, then all the surrounding Arab masses will start to really wonder why they don't have the wealth and freedom the Iraqis will have. And one by one the despotic countries will find that their hold will start to slip. And maybe, the Arabs will start to realize that the source of their problems wasn't the U.S. afterall. They have been lied to for decades and were given reasons to hate us to deflect the blame falling on their own leaders. But that just may be about to change.
