Part of life under tyranny is not being able to speak freely.
Thats why I said that if they trully felt fear in speaking out, the would have been just as afraid in the southern regions as in Bagdad.
The other tyrants you speak of have not demonstated their eageness to use their weapons so much. Sure the other guys have them, but have they used them? Not like saddam has.
when was the last time Saddam showed eagerness to attack anyone since he invaded Kuwait? He has been under the microscope of the World ever since.. And the world, the UN in particular was slowly, but surely doing its job. Why not allow the process to continue? Why not give it 3-4 more months?? Why the eagerness on the part of the US to go to war?? Was he gonna be a bigger threat 4 months from now than he is now? War is a last resort, and everything thing must be done to avoid it.. In this case it was not.
It's amazing to me that people who are free to post their opinions on this thread would be so angry that the Iraqi people are being relieved of a tyrant who to date is responsible for the deaths of about 1.5 million people.
How do you know the Iraqi people want to be freed? Did you actually go over there and ask every single one of them? Or do you simply know this by hearing a few Iraqi's who now live in the US complain about how evil the regime is?
I don't get this bitterness.
Biterness?? Why dont you ask they guy who lost his only son about biterness.. Why dont you ask what Im sure will be hundreds of mothers, sons, daughters, fathers, sisters of fallen men about bitterness.. This could have been avoided... The UN process, however slow, was working.. Bushy was just to eager to do what daddy failed to do a decade ago..
