At the time, we had a larger concern, the Soviet Union. Sometimes these alliances are necessarily the lesser of evils. It is completely naive not to recognize this - Nothing more than nickelodean diplomacy.

A free and prosperous Iraq, with a people who are glad to see saddam gone will be the legacy. This will not span a new generation of terrorists. There are radicals who will do so irregardless.

Your knowledge of History is apparently limited. We did not support the Taliban, we supported the Mujahideen. The Taliban emerged later.

You keep saying it is about oil, yet you offer no reasoning, no logic, no proof. We could get all of the oil we needed if we simply drop the sanctions. This is a fact which cannot be refuted. We imported oil from Iraq throughout 2002 under the oil for food program. There is no reason to believe that this would not continue, only your kook theory to say it would not.

Why do you keep beating that dead horse?

Because your position has serious ramifications. If it was up to you, Saddam would keep going indefinatley, doing the same kind of things to his people, sponsoring terrorist groups and doing who knows what with chemical and biological weapons.

The man in the story is real, as are tens of thousands more. If it was up to you, you would allow Saddam to continue. Live with it.
