who wrote that, the editor? I use online WSJ at work and don't have the uid/pw here. I am not really in favor of dropping out of the UN but it wouldn't kill me at this point. The french trying to define the terms of rebuilding the country is unacceptable. And apparently we have to pay $1 billion per year for the UN. Still, it was all we had as a world legislative body and without the UN, rogue countries can mobilize their hatred towards the US only. Not that they didn't do that anyway but my belief is that Bush's toppling of the UN will be viewed in retrospect as a dire mistake.
