not known for their innovation neither were the japanese. it always starts with reverse-engineering. and i'm not suggesting this will happen overnight, but even as little as 10 years from now the high tech geography is going to look significantly different than it does now. your points about the 2-way street i don't dispute. what worries me is that it feels like we're going into a period where nobody is really going to win. we're all going to suffer.
