Hi Jorj,

Long time no see. Hope you are well.

It occurs to me that promoting and publicizing boycotts may have a negative side. If the promotion gets much international attention then the US subjects itself to reciprocal action by countries of the world that decide to engage a tit for tat diplomacy. Of course, then the question becomes "what does the resulting equation dictate in the "we win" " we lose" aspect. I think it is safe to say that the formal positions of countries governments do not particularly reflect the position of its citizens all the time. Many countries governments support the US but the citizens don't ( eg: UK) . For the most part the countries citizens consume and hence are the buyers. In the case of this thread and its promotion of " don't by french" I would suggest caution since a reciprocal action could be conducted by other countries vs. the US. This pits one countries buying against a hundred other countries. I may be proven wrong but I believe strategical caution is advised here.

I would be interested in your opinion here.

Regards

C
