hope all is well.

I think that the recipricol action that you speak of started off as a preemptive action. In other words, the anti-american bias in business decisions is widespread already.

On another level, I don't think that this thread is going to have a meaningful influence on anything. Maybe as an indication of a larger sentiment it has meaning, but if this thread exists or doesn't exist will make no difference in the whole grand scheme of things.

There's an old saying about relationships. The party who has the least need for the relationship sets the rules. The US needs to show that they have the least need for the relationship.
