No, that is not our mission. The mission, as stated in position papers of the AEI and numerous speeches by Bush, is much more ambitious than disarming Saddam. The mission is regime change (whether Saddam disarms or not), nation building (=colonization), and using Iraq as our beachhead in the Arab world, to make every other nation in the region submit to our will (= new Domino Theory).

If our goal had been as limited as disarming Saddam, I would have supported whatever means were necessary. And the French and Germans and Russians too, would probably have got on board, in the end. It is precisely because our national ambitions are so unlimited, that there is so much opposition.
