<<...I root for USForces to have success
but I just dont have confidence that we will clean up in two weeks like 100's of 1000's of Americans expect
I also expect we will make numerous mistakes, after several already (e.g. UN, Europe, Turkey)...>>

jw: Unfortunately, I agree with you...I am with our troops 100% BUT as you know I question the wisdom of our Administration and Pentagon leaders...IMO, this war could and SHOULD have been avoided...UNinteneded consequences are starting to show up -- and they are painful too...IMO, we rushed into war and didn't think it through or gain the essential support from enough allies (e.g. Turkey) or the U.N. Security council...remember this is 'a pre-emptive war' -- what kind of message will we be sending to other countries like China, India or Pakistan...? Was this war with Iraq worth the price of fracturing the North Atlantic Alliance...? Was it wise to go to get into an 'elective war' BEFORE our homeland was adequately secured...? Why wouldn't Bush meet with the Bishop from his own church (or with a delegation from the National Council of Churches)...? Why didn't Bush seriously consider this letter from 1000 highly regarded veterans who had some SERIOUS CONCERNS...?

Your friend Rumsfeld who runs our military feels that we can overthrow Saddam and take over Iraq quickly with our high tech fighting machine and its precision...Yet, he did not take the concerns of some military leaders into consideration...they did not want to rush to Baghdad without adequate troops and protection -- we have moved very fast and now have long and vulnerable supply lines (according to General Wesley Clark we may need more troops and must do a much better job of protecting our flanks)...we're getting ambushed by Iraqi Republican guard members and some militants who are dressing as civilians...the Iraqis have prisoners of war now...I just heard on CNN that we may now be missing 2 Apache copters...IMO, our troops will be at greater risk as they get closer to urban combat around Baghdad -- if there is ever a time that Saddam will use WMDs (bio or chem weapons) that might be it...According to the BBC the Arab world is starting to erupt as well - even moderate Arab clerics are urging Jihad against U.S. forces...Some folks in Washington did NOT think things through...we can win the war (at a very high cost) BUT can we really win the peace...?

History repeats itself...I continue to pray for our troops and later will comment on a powerful message our head minister gave yesterday on 'Why War...?'

regards,
