Federal Department of Health and Human Services Emergency Preparedness Office to Use AuraGen
Monday March 24, 7:45 am ET

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2003--Aura Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:AURA - News) today announced that the Office of Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, Office of the Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services will use the AuraGen® Underhood Mobile Power System in their emergency response communications vehicles. These emergency response vehicles enable the Office of Public Health to immediately respond to, and coordinate the required medical resources of the Department of Health and Human Services at the site of major emergencies and disasters, natural or man-made. The AuraGen G5000, installed in Ford Excursions, will provide pure sine wave power to the vehicles' communications payloads, whether driving on the way to the site of the emergency or parked on site. The G5000 can provide 5,000 watts of continuous power, and 7,200 watts of peak surge power. The AuraGen's performance and quality of output power is such that the vehicles array of advanced equipment, including sensitive communications devices, can be used simultaneously, even in the harsh environments expected at disaster sites.

"The AuraGen gives us the power we need, when we need it, without the distraction of handling, prepping or maintaining gensets," said Brent Guffey, Office of Emergency Preparedness. "This lets our communications operators focus on their vital mission, as opposed to operating auxiliary equipment. In addition, the total power from the AuraGen in all vehicle situations, mobile or parked, is much superior to that available from vehicle alternators. We expect the AuraGen to have a significant impact on our emergency vehicle capabilities."

The AuraGen is in service with the FBI, BATF and Border Patrol, providing responsive on-demand power in crisis response, crime scene investigation and patrol vehicles, respectively. The VIPER, the military version of the AuraGen, is in service with U.S. Military Forces in both the United States and overseas, including support of Operation Enduring Freedom against terrorism and in the Persian Gulf area in support of National Defense activities. Thousands of AuraGens are in commercial service with industry, municipalities and State and Federal agencies across the nation.

"The use of the AuraGen for mobile emergency preparedness is an excellent application of its key strengths: high quality, on-demand power in any situation, and reliable, unobtrusive operation that allows emergency response professionals to focus on mission-critical tasks," said Neal Meehan, Aura Chairman and CEO. "The fact that the AuraGen also saves a tremendous amount of weight and space and is maintenance free, only adds to its cost-effectiveness. The FBI has found this to be true with its Crisis Response Team vehicles, as has the U.S. Army."

Other AuraGen models provide up to 8,500 watts of continuous power even at low engine speed. The various AuraGen models provide high-quality AC (alternating current) power, and/or DC (direct current) power, and/or Engine-off Silent Watch power. This can be accomplished whether the vehicle is parked or moving, and with high-quality power output at all engine speeds.
