You have a warped view of Daschle. He's a mainstream midwesterner, down-home guy, soft-spoken but with amazing inner strength. A real serious public servant.

The more the right-wing attacks him the worse the right-wing looks. If a moderate like Daschle is attacked continuously it just shows that the GOP has moved too far to the fight. Attacks against Pelosi I would understand because she's definitely more liberal than most.

But maybe these attacks are just a futile attempt to try and beat Daschle if he is running for re-election in 2004. Perhaps he is and that would explain it. There's always a strategic reason behind GOP attacks, we've found.
