And according to the BBC, the EU's putting pressure on Turkey to stay out. Blair's spoken out against it, too - I suppose this for him is a part of the moral stance (defending democracy and the Kurds), I wonder when or if he'll notice that this is not precisely the neocon's greatest interest?

Turkey was warned by the European Commission on Monday that sending its troops into Iraq could "complicate" its EU membership chances.
Other individual EU nations also warned against the plan to deploy soldiers in Kurdish northern Iraq, as the US too continued to exert pressure on an increasingly-isolated looking Ankara.

"In relation to Turkey, it would be entirely unacceptable for there to be any incursion," Mr Blair said in the UK parliament.

German Defence Minister Peter Struck added his own warning, threatening to withdraw German AWACS crews from Nato's current mission to protect Turkey. "There should be no reinforcement of the Turkish military presence above its current level," Mr Struck.

If it can unite UK and Germany on this point, it'll be EU policy. IMO. So that's definitely a strong warning to Turkey.
