SAN-Wide Storage Pooling and Volume Management to be Available as SilkWorm Application

From the article:"...How SVM on the Fabric Application Platform Works

The StoreAge SVM off-the-data-path storage virtualization engine has been ported to the SilkWorm Fabric Application Platform, enabling any servers or storage devices attached to the SilkWorm ports to utilize StoreAge's powerful storage provisioning and storage management capabilities. SVM aggregates the available capacity from one or more storage devices into centrally managed storage pools, allocates appropriately-sized volumes from these pools to each application server, and incrementally expands volumes whenever needed using any unused capacity within each storage pool. By using an off-the-data-path architecture, SVM provides centralized storage management in a highly scalable SAN environment while maintaining the full fabric data transfer bandwidth of the SAN. In addition, SVM enables an easy migration from traditional SANs to SVM-managed environments, allowing customers to rapidly realize the resulting TCO benefits...."

I wonder how this storage management application fits in with their own in-house solution that's under development? At least customers have a storage virtualization software solution now and do not have to what for the beta version (to be completed later this year) from Brocade.
