The imperatives of war will not go away, no matter how advanced the technology, nor how forward-thinking the political goal. Franks, Rumsfeld, and Cheney understand, as does Bush. It was worth a try. BUT, Al-Nasariyah has been destroyed by artillery fire-the armor rolling past through the ruins. Baghdad faces the same reality, unless the enemy surrenders. That's the problem in ANY war: The only way to stop an American offensive is capitulation. That's why we built the armed forces. That's what they are about.
