The mother of David Frum was named Barbara, she was a much beloved cbc radio host here, had for years a news/interviews programme called As It Happens ..... one evening she just dialed up Idi Amin, in the heyday of his notoriety, and he went into a rant live on the wireless, it was great, they still play the highlights of that some days .... another time she was interviewing a chap in Reading, England, he was rambling on about his story, which was quite amusing in itself, and in explaining he quoted someone in London, then added just to make it clear where was London, he said 'that's about seventy-five miles from Reading' ..... it was clear from context that he was not by this locating Reading, but London, so it was a highly successful gut-buster, and for years afterwards, still now sometimes, the cbc locates spots on the planet solely on the basis of how many miles they are from Reading ... sadly, Barbara Frum would not today be very proud of her little boy, she had better judgment, very honoured person here and a free-thinker always
I am glad to see such an individual as her David leave this great white north .... but i do not wish him on you John, you deserve better ....... please please do not send us Pat Buchanan in reprisal -g- |
