Voting to support the war in Iraq does not make one a moderate. If not for the coming election last year, many of the Democrats would not have voted in support of the resolution. Bush was smart to force the vote prior to the election. A political move on the part of Bush? Absolutely. A political move on the part of certain Democrats to vote for the resolution? Absolutely. The vote would have been much closer had Bash waited until after the election.

I notice that you are now referring to Kerry as a "moderate" and McCain as a "liberal." As I have stated before, this assertion is not supported by a review of their voting records. They may share similar views on some issues, such as veterans affairs, but their voting records on key issues diverge significantly.

Take a look at their ADA and ACU ratings over the past four years:

McCain ADA ratings
2002: 20%
2001: 40%
2000: 5%
1999: 5%

Kerry ADA ratings
2002: 85%
2001: 95%
2000: 90%
1999: 95%

McCain ACU ratings
2002: 78%
2001: 68%
2000: 81%
1999: 77%

Kerry ACU ratings
2002: 20%
2001: 4%
2000: 12%
1999: 0%

McCain has a liftime rating of 84% from the ACU and Kerry has a 6% rating. Kennedy has a 3% lifetime rating.
