AS, please be more precise in your use of our common language. First, I would have to be a member of the Bush administration to "admit" that Bush started the war for political reasons. That allegation is complete BS and you know it. My observation was that Bush made the political calculation to force a vote on the war prior to the election. One of the reasons was that he knew that the dialogue would be politicized by the Democrats in the post-election period, which is exactly what happened. All of a sudden you had a lot of Democrats complaining that they would not have voted for the resolution if they knew....(fill in the blank).

Additionally, Bush was working against the clock. He needed to get our troops in place before the onset of summer. In order to do that he needed a fall vote. If it didn't happen then, he would not have gotten the authorization until sometime in December.

Your anger is misplaced. You should be angry at the Democratic Senators that did not have the courage of their convictions to stand up and be counted in October. I know that there were a lot of Democrats on this thread who made that observation last fall. I don't recall, but you may have been one of them. If so, my congratulations.

BTW, I thought that Democrats felt that the Republicans prevailed in November because they "tricked" the American people on the Homeland Security issue.
