The more I think about this war, the more I think how INSANE this policy really is. We're going to take over a whole other country the size of California? Much blood will be spilled by the Iraqis to defend their country. Even if we do take over Iraq by brute force, we might encounter terrorist resistence for some time as disaffected Iraqis take aim at occupying U.S. forces. It's becoming obvious that the U.S. military planners were mistaken to think that the Iraqis were going to throw down their weapons and welcome them with open arms. As much as Saddam is hated in Iraq (and rightfully so), Iraqis might not be prepared to turn their country over to colonial powers like the U.S. and Britain. Especially Britain, since the Iraqis were ruled by the British in the early part of the 20th Century. A not so pleasant rule either. The British used Chemical weapons dropped from airplanes on rebellious Iraqis in one battle.
