I think we said the same thing. I knew everything Hersh claimed already but I am glad that he his using his forum at the New Yorker to make it public. Much was made of Colin Powell's integrity and he needs to defend that integrity if he wants to maintain it.

It didn't get much press but Tony Blair put out a full explanation for the 'perjured student report' a few days after the story broke. All the people involved did open interviews on TV. Blair's people made a sloppy mistake, admitted the mistake and moved on. Turned out that the 'student' was an experienced postdoc with some valid information and interesting idea. The mistake was not giving him credit for his work.

I hope that Powell will do the same.
