so is that what took the Apache down in iraq then?

The Apache is a mechanical object. It is not invincible. Moreover, it is operated by humans. In high stress circumstances, both the Apache and the humans will sometimes malfunction. I fly planes. Have flown them for years. But when the pucker factor rises, sometimes even a well-trained pilot will turn what could have been a controllable situation into a disaster. I am not saying there was any pilot error in Iraq. I am saying that those guys were likely under an awful lot of pressure and so was their aircraft. That can be a recipe for problems. No RPG is needed. With all the stuff flying around over there, we must expect malfunctions. It is actually a marvel that we aren't seeing more failures in that environment.
