What Graham and Chretien are trying to do is to make the U.S. administration's handling of foreign relations look skillful. Unfortunately, they're succeeding. They've been playing to the anti-American constituency, as if those people were too stupid to figure out that behind the rhetoric there was support. At the same time, they've devalued that support in the eyes of anyone watching in the U.S. It's like, "Let's have a contest -- let's just see how badly we can play our hand!"
