Tim, <Very probably not. So?>

My family and I are productive members of American society thanks to American intervention in the Korean War. Heck, my relatives who live in Korea are also helping America out through free trade. For example, the fact that your DRAM is so cheap can be attributed to Korean manufacturers.

Your callous isolationism takes for granted all of the benefits that you enjoy from a secure, free-trading world. Like it or not, America is THE star player in the global arena. I don't buy the notion that this somehow repudiates everything the Constitution stood for, especially since we live in much different times than the days of George Washington. Nor do I think "Fortress America" is ideal or practical.

The fact is that world security IS America's security. And America's security forms the foundation of America's economy. You could argue that a "contained" Iraq never posed a threat to world security, but that would be a separate debate. But I would argue against the isolationism I hear more conservatives preach these days, for the hidden costs are tremendous and the benefits are an illusion.
