We are dangerously stretched out with insufficient troops to demilitarize and occupy the cities behind us. I THINK our plan was to grab Saddam quick and country would drop like a ripe apple from the tree. That doesnt now look likely to me. Typically you have a 3:1 majority ratio when advancing on dug in troops, we are lucky if we are 1:1. That is not good to this old military guy. (course wee didnt have all this fancy shit when I was in). Personally, I think plan B ought to be to secure the REST of the country, set up a NEW IRAQ government. Enlist Shiites and Kurds, and with our leadership use THEM to kick out Saddam. That would take longer of course BUT in the process it most likely would cause them to become a cohesive government as they fight. Its THEIR country being liberated and it oughtent be difficult to convince them to help. But we are then looking at 6 months instead of hoped for 6 weeks. If we are not willing to do Plan B above we sure as hell better use our air force to its FULLEST ADVANTAGE including MOAB. jdn
