Rumsfeld's strategy under fire as war risks become increasingly apparent

As someone who has studied military strategy from B. H. Liddell Hart forward, this is is starting to loom large. On this subject, I'll maintain my amateur status. Hence I'll make no categorical statements, but from this amateur's perspective von Rumsfeld is seriously close to "rolling snake eyes". It's not that the forces there can't get the job done, it's the casualties. Overwhelming force doesn't just reduce the casualty rate, if used wisely, it reduces the absolute number of casualties. I'm not sure yet, but it's beginning to look like arrogant hubris of following his proscribed doctrine may have led Rumsfeld into making a strategic blunder.

For the sake of the troops in the field, let's hope not.

Just an amateur's opinion.
