Demonstrators in Paris smashed the windows of a McDonald's restaurant last week, forcing police in riot gear to move in to protect staff and customers of the American fast-food outlet. OTOTOT: I hope some of this French/American animosity settles down a bit before our boy from Texas sets out to whip the French in their bicycle race for the fifth consecutive time this summer. The French already could barely stomach the fact that an American has been winning---even before this recent turn for the worse in Franco/American relations. Greg Lemond, our previous winner, was tolerated more than Lance because he has a French last name. I am actually a little worried about Lance's security this year. Regards, Huey
