Hi JDN, I think everyone is underestimating the planning that Rumsfeld and friends did. For one, this war is a hell of a lot more real to us all, because essentially we're all glued to the 24/7 news coverage. That makes us all impatient. The last war lasted 6 weeks. This one may be over before that and this time we're trying to accomplish a hell of a lot more.

The other thing not everyone is realizing is that we have troop reinforcements pouring into Iraq "every minute of every hour of every day" according to Rumsfeld. That means that those troops are rolling in behind the leading columns, sweep up the mess and securing trouble spots. What the U.S. is doing is almost like a classic Blitzkrieg.

This war is much different than the last. The last gulf war was all about pushing back the Iraqi forces. This one is about capturing the flag, the flag being Baghdad. So a fast march that destabilizes the enemy and keeps the scrambling to regroup is exactly what is needed.
