IMO, 'regime change' in Washington could do a lot to improve our nation's credibility and security...This 'pre-emptive strike' doctrine will be full of UNintended consequences...We are stirring up a hornets nest in The Middle East and what if this war in Iraq actually...

-increases Anti-Americanism

-creates the conditions for more terrorists to be recruited and to have the desire to strike us

-jeopardizes the health of our fragile economy

-seriously damages U.S. power and prestige in the world (the breakdown in the North Atlantic Alliance may just be the beginning)

I could go on BUT you may see why I felt we didn't give diplomatic and containment options a fair chance...the stakes are SO HIGH in Iraq ---> this is an elective war that the neoconservative hawks convinced Bush that he must fight (even though most of them have never been on a battle field and really don't understand the complexities of the Middle East)...What if we are unable to deliver 'a better Iraq' but instead after overthrowing Saddam we leave a dangerous power vacuum and folks get terrified of our U.S. power and intentions...? There were other ways to deal with Saddam BUT the neocons decided long ago that war was the only option. I fear that our nation will have to sacrifice A LOT of blood and treasure to win this war in Iraq...Yet, will we really be able to win the peace...?
