Actually I think there has always been a free membership of sorts.
However i don't believe that type of membership permits you to make posts
What I think it is is you get all the other features EXCEPT posting.

Now that I think of it
I recall is becoming an issue at one point
Something along the lines of stalkers and people signing up for free to get personal info on particular members.
Might have something to do with the FBN guys or might have been Ms. Shell.
You know how well she was received by the pumpers and dumpers.
Just to be sure and mention it, Janice is one class act! Probably one of the best and most valuable members SI has!
