It actually might be a good thing if Iraq DID use chemical weapons.

Assuming the military is correct that our troops are properly prepared for chemical weapons.

If Iraq does use them, it will prove beyond any doubt that they both had them and the will to use them. The UN will simply have to condemn their use -- can you imagine any country on the Security Council that would vote against a resolution condeming Iraq for the use of chemical weapons? Even France wouldn't dare oppose it.

Blix would try to spin, but there is no way he could avoid looking irrelevant.

And the coalition of the willing would almost certainly gain more members.

It could be the best thing for our side, assuming as I say that our troops are ready for them and won't suffer casualties from the chem weapons.
