There are a lot of very intelligent people in the USA. How we ended up with these self serving idiots in charge can be explained by examining who they ran against in the last "election". I have a feeling the Demos under Gore would be almost as bad. The whole system of government needs triage. Money from lobbyists for special interest groups (military/corporate machine, foreign governments, Wall Street, old blueblood money etc) totally controls most (if not all) of the major political decisions made in the US today. For instance the lobbyists from the privatized prison system successfully pushed for longer sentences for blue collar criminals. Nice return on investment. Nice to see the people profiting from the prison system re-writing the laws that fill their coffers. How perverse is that? Morals and values? Nowhere to be found. Common sense? MIA. God bless America. Yep that's likely.
