Sure, we could have tried to push for political
reform and democracy then, for all the countries
in the region.

Basically, we created the mess we see before us now,
all through the 80's (and before), from our intervention
then lack of follow-through during Bush I, etc.

I don't want anyone to be under a dictator, but there
are many repressive govts in the world besides Iraq. Also,
I think the world should do this - not just the US and British.

I hope it goes well, and is over quickly, but if it is not,
everyone loses - as US soldiers are killed or taken POW,
Iraqi military that was forced in by their govt. is killed
in massive numbers by US, Iraqi civilians are killed, and
finally hate will grow against us in the region.

That is what I fear.
