We can only hope Scotts predictions are as bad as his inspecting talents. It is quit possible, that we will do as we did in Afghanistan, and bring in part of those 70000 kurd forces, and tell the Iraqis to surrender or we will let the Kurds take revenge. Secondly, Isreal has been able to control over 100 million arabs in neighboring states with a smaller army in comparison. Thirdly, it is reported this AM, Iraq is coming out to fight. So a lot depends upon this battle. A rout will likely dampen the Iraqis hopes and lead to a quicker surrender. Fourthly, there are 4 to 5 million residents in Baghdad, not the 7 million Scott claims, and a lot of them have left. Fifth, 80% of Iraq will be in US hands shortly, once Basra and Nazerea fall, so we can isolate Baghdad and wait it out for some time, and negotiate a surrender. Big cities such as Baghdad need outside supplies to survive, so everyone but the hardcore will flee quickly. |
