Indeed your concern is well founded.

Earlier I was thinking we should try drawing the Republican Guard away from Baghdad and towards perceived weakness and into concentrated position away from politically unsavory targets. Don’t forget we have a few units that no one is talking about in a war of disinformation -- Daisy Cutters and MOABs might prove quite shocking and awe inspiring to the Republican Guard and their fellow “crispy critters.” All that seemed impossible at the time.

Now from the reports we are getting, this scenario may be unfolding. Mechanized RG troops are allegedly rapidly deploying south to engage the USMC well south of Baghdad. One has to wonder what is going through their minds since the roundtrip fare to Baghdad has been canceled. It would seem they are playing into the hands of coalition strength.

But all this seems just too stupid and makes one wonder if our attention is being diverted from something else, somewhere else. On the other hand, the Iraqi army is not very cerebral and may be advancing on emotionally generated testosterone – let’s hope so. Yet your hypothesis may suggest 20 of those trucks are suicide bombers with suitcases.

The suitcase bomb is a poor tactical piece and would be ill advised in this scenario – retaliation would be beyond their imagination. Chemicals, well that’s another story.
