No, the world is divided between adolescents regardless of age and grown ups regardless of age.

Adolescents are best understood through the following words from Wendy Cope's wonderful poem, The Concerned Adolescent:

Everywhere there is blood and
the stench of death.
Human beings make war and
hate one another.
They do not understand their
young, they reject their ideals,
They make them come home
early from the disco,
They are doomed.

Adolescents reject the scientific method because their truth is the one immutable truth which will be replaced, like a dirty shirt, once the next immutable truth comes around the corner.

Adolescents are maximalists. Saddam is a poster boy for the maximalist adolescent. Arafat is No. 2.

Adolescents are proud because they are weak. They'd rather wallow in their pride instead of working on their weaknesses. The concentration of proud adolescents in the MidEast is astonishing.

Adolescents are self-destructive. The concentration of self-destructive adolescents in the MidEast is astonishing.

Adolescents are great at squandering their resources. The concentration of resources and of squandering adolescents in the MidEast is astonishing.

Adolescents are vainglorious, especially in leadership positions. Qaddafi seems an appropriate example.

Many adolescents are brutal towards each other. Do you really need any ME examples to support this point or is it as obvious to you as it is to me?

I'm sure there are a few grownups in the ME. Unfortunately, adolescents make more noise and are a lot more noticeable than mature adults.

So, Sun, the world is populated either by grownups or adolescents. The problem with the ME is that the adolescents predominate.
