Bullshit. Can't have it both ways. The Bush PR machine wanted us to believe it would quick and painless in order to sell the war-to Congress, the UN, the public. The media did not make up the ideas that Iraq was a house of cards just waiting for someone to challenge Saddam. So you can't hang the difference between reality and PR on the media.
