I am very impressed with many of the young people I work with. I think they are fantastic people. Our culture is very negative about young people- the news often focuses on the few bad apples. I have classes full of good apples; wonderful kids, who will make fantastic adults. It has been a great joy for me to work with young adults. I never intended to, as you know I meant to work with 2nd or 3rd graders. But this was the only job available, and I took it to build up seniority, never realizing I would fall in love with my job.

Many things are wrong with the world, but working with young people you can see some of what is right with it. I feel so lucky every day.
