The guy who does the war round-up on the Lehrer Newshour reported as fact that the building in which 14 Iraqi civilians were killed today was hit by two cruise missiles.

John Burns (who I think appears nightly on the Newshour) came on a little later and said the craters were much smaller than cruise missiles would leave. He also said the military had hauled off any debris that would have been evidence of what hit the building. No reporters had a chance to examine anything.

Burns is just great. He always mentions how nice the civilians are that he meets, and that many of them say how much they like America. He said the other night that many told him they couldn't wait to be liberated.
