i should take notes.

Me too.

Last night I was watching NBC's Dateline or Nightline (one
of their news shows) followed by CBS's 60 Minutes II.

They were painting a picture of Saddam's army.

It seems that he has his Republican Guard who is supposed
to be made up of the better soldiers and ones who appear to
be dedicated to their cause. (This I already knew.)

Then Saddam did some things to help ensure these troops
will stay committed to the cause. The Republican Guard has a
group of elite guardsmen that keep an eye on the RG to
prevent them from surrendering should the thought cross
their minds.

Then there is the Fartaheim Saddam (not the correct
spelling but I figured if I was going to make a spelling
mistake, let it be a funny sounding one) who are the
extremists. These are similar to our special forces if you
can make a comparison. They are approximately 50,000
strong and are highly trained in gorilla warfare. These
dudes were compared to terrorists in that they will kill
any one who they see who does not appear to be faithful to
Saddam and Islam. They are scattered throughout the
country imbedded in many of the cities especially Baghdad.

The feeling the people gave is that the Geneva Convention
rules were designed by the strong wealthy countries to
ensure they win. They do not plan to follow these rules.

It's about survival to them. They will do what ever it
takes to win including suicide. There are no rules for
them.

Seeing how they have been found wearing civilian clothes
and even wearing US Army uniforms with explosives strapped
to themselves, there is no doubt they will use nerve gas,
bio weapons, and chemical weapons when they are pushed to
do so. Most likely when we enter Baghdad.

Seeing this makes me fear that this will be a longer battle
than the media was making out.

Even after the regime is taken out, I imagine these guys
will continue with their crusade. It very well may end up
similar to Palestine until these guys are weeded out. How
much carnage will happen before then?
