Just a side note... did you know that Sky News is from the same stable as Fox? Both owned by that wonderful voice of freedom, Murdoch. <edit> and his UK papers, especially the toilet paper sold as 'The Sun', tend to the gung-ho "death to ragheads" stance. Anyhow, I'd think it more probable that the troops rather than the crowd around them were the target. Not that I expect Saddam's forces to care if they kill their own people (and mortars are not exactly precise weapons!), just that I think they'd more likely be aiming for us - and if that discourages their own civilians from seeking aid from us, well and good for them.
