I don't think lightening quick victory is expected - however, allies promised "shock and awe" - and didn't deliver; the british said that they had um quasr and then fighting broke out - same thing with Basra and Nassiriyah(sp?); the british said that there were signs of a revolt in Basra - turns out it was a very small one.

Why don't we see Iraqi Shias (an admittedly oppressed lot) revolt in larger numbers - especially, when we are supposed to have got at least some cities under control.
