I just listened to Col. David Hackworth interviewed on the Mike Reagan talk show. He too thinks that the military leaders jumped the gun and pushed forward without enough forces. He also said that if he were in charge, he'd fire Rumsfeld Hackworth was opposed to the war from the outset and has criticized every aspect of it. Probably the last brilliant military commanders we had were Stormin' Norman and Colin Powell back in 1991. While I agree that Schwartzkopf was superb, I think it is far too early to judge Franks as we had killed tens of thousands of Iraqi fighters before the groundwar began; by that time, they were ready to walk. We are only a week into this war and the progress has been phenomenal. The media has come to expect wars that are fought solely on air power, and now they're becoming critical because this is an old-styled war with face to face combat.
