British Sun report 30 US soldiers wounded by friendly fire

Thirty US troops have been wounded, two "very seriously", in a friendly fire incident in central Iraq. ITV correspondent James Mates reported: "It happened late last night. There was a very heavy firefight going on, which we could hear from our position. "A small group of Iraqis had gone effectively round the side of the American advance and started attacking the less well defended logistics and command positions in the rear.


War in Iraq 'will last months'

The war to topple Saddam Hussein's regime is likely to last months, it has been reported. Senior American military officers in Iraq are now convinced they will need considerably more combat power than at present, The Washington Post said. The foul weather, long and insecure supply lines, and an enemy that has refused to give up has led to a broad reassessment by some top US generals of military expectations and timelines
