Since the bombs began falling last week, critics of the invasion, from Sen. Tom Daschle to Michael Moore, have drawn brickbats for not stifling their sentiments. War has begun, it was said, so dissent must end.
Those who would stifle dissent, claiming patriotism, are anti-democratic... they are the dangerous would-be tyrants. <edit>Next will come internment for those who speak against it - in secret, and with no right of appeal or protection, because that's what the "Patriot II" act proposes. For your protection, of course, because we know from Soviet Russia how the knock on the door at midnight and the secret disappearance are for your protection. |
