I have no idea what the current situation will do to the US-Canada relationship long-term. Probably it will just stumble along. At least Canada is not pro-actively trying to stop every US initiative just because the US is behind it, as France is. (BTW, I could be where you are...mes ancesteurs etaient Francais-Canadien. They decided working in the mills in NH and MA for 6 days/week, 10 hours a day was better than trying to scratch a living off the rock that was Quebec back around 1900. :-))
