There was a car built in the US that used as a prototype a 100 Lb flywheel. (Not Tucker, but someone similar) The company also built refrigerators, and their small car had a copper and iron motor that corroded completely in about 2 years. The flywheel was abandoned as it is dangerous at those speeds. If the bearing seized it would go thru the car, and several nearby walls before coming to rest. This sort of thing stops these ideas from general adoption.

Another problem is trying to get paid for inventions, claims, and new exploration projects by the people you put them in front of, all honourable men. Most inventors I know historically have died broke. human nature tends to kill off the likelihood of innovation transforming the world overnite.
