nsumir, I didn't volunteer so I see your point in that respect. The people who are fighting for the US and UK all signed up for the forces voluntarily as far as I know.

As far as "portfolio-aggrandizing patriots" go, I am very short the Nasdaq at the moment while wishing for a short and successful war in Iraq. Such an outcome may well cause me to cover for a loss but my personal opinion is that the removal of Saddam is more important than the money I have at risk.

I have said all along that I may be wrong in thinking that Bush/Blair are doing the right thing. They may screw up or they may have motives that are more sinister than I suspect. I also respect that the majority of those on this thread who are anti war are people who have thought hard about the implications and are concerned due to humanitarian reasons. I share their/your concerns about the unpleasantness of military action but I disagree about whether the end result will make the world a better place.

I hope I am right.
