>>As Napoleon and Hitler found with the snow at the gates of Moscow, so Blair and Bush might find that the biggest weapon of mass destruction they encounter, before the gates of Baghdad, is the sun.<< Sun AND sand.

Even U.S. media reports note that the equipment is breaking down faster because of the effects of sand in the machinery. Supplies can't get to the front fast enough, creating food, fuel, and ammunition shortages. Helicopters require more maintenance and more down time. The recent decision to send in 100,000 or so more troops (including more supplies, of course) reflects not only the difficulties the initial forces have encountered but the lack of operating equipment needed to maintain supply lines.

What I'm looking for is the first time that the Saudis and/or other U.S. "allies" in that area blink. Given Bush's great diplomatic powers, he should have no trouble keeping them in line, or should he?
