Do you suppose those embedded reporters have free access everywhere? Let's say that one of them was a witness to a Mai Lai (remember that one?) incident do you suppose his editor in the States would publish it? You are more than a little naive - combat is brutal and often it's a case of shoot first and ask questions later. And Blair's report (since qualified if not withdrawn altogether) about prisoners being 'executed' would lead to reprisals. You see the world though rose coloured spectacles made in America.
